Using CAN 8 in SSCC Computer Labs


Pronunciation - Using CAN 8 in computer lab


Assignment # 1 Can 8 is a program on the computers in all SSCC labs and in the library. You can listen and record your own speech. You can play your recorded voice back to improve your pronunciation, and complete classroom pronunciation assignments. You will need earphones and a microphone. (If you don’t have a microphone, use a pair of earphones that has a microphone in the lab)
1. At the desktop, open the Can 8 icon (It's green and red)
(It may be inside a small yellow folder next to the start button at the bottom of your screen in some labs.)
2. Click on the word “Run”
3. Sign in with user name (the last 5 numbers of your student ID)
4. Your password is “PWORD”
5. Click on Log In
6. Click on the STUDENT MAIN MENU.
7. Click on Quick Intro to Can 8 and complete the introduction program.
8. Click on ESL (non credit)
9. Begin working on pronunciation lessons. Click on Pronunciation
10. Complete the lessons at your own pace.

Assignment #2 Log on to Can 8 (your password is “pword”)
Click on Student Main menu
Click on ESL non credit
Click on 3A
The Robbery.
Listen to the story.
Click on exercises. Practice repeating the sentences. Record you answer.
Continue to the lesson on The Accident.
Complete the exercises (multiple choice, and fill in the missing word exercises and then record your answers.)

Write a short explanation, then record your response. Record what happened.
